Oneota Film Festival moves into their new office space in downtown Decorah

Posted: Tue, Jun 27, 2017 12:45 PM

OFF, Oneota Film Festival, has acquired an office space in downtown Decorah. They are tentatively calling it the "OFF Studio", in the back portion of Photography by Brittany. The Studio is located at 411 W. Water Street (formerly Fancy Pants).

This space will allow them to have open office hours, an accessible film lending library for members with dedicated pickup and drop off hours, a mid-sized screening space for 30+ people, educational space, archival storage--the list goes on.

Director Christy Ebert Vrtis is excited for the new space, as they will be able to hold screenings about once a month in their own space. They hope to start having screenings in September, giving them the summer to get settled in.

OFF 2018 is moving to April. The OFF Board of Directors and host Luther College have set the date for next year's festival. Save the Date: April 19th--22nd, 2018. That weekend was the only full weekend Luther College had available to host the festival.

April 22nd is Earth Day, so OFF is hoping to co-ordinate the last day of films with any activities and events happening in town and form extra partnerships.

"Because the festival is going to be so late, our plan for this year is to do a couple of mini festivals leading up to it, so we'll do something in February and March in our space and other spaces in town, said Christy.

The OFF Board of Directors is still looking for some new faces to join the board. They are looking for individuals with a fresh perspective, a few free hours a month, and an interest in film and community-based arts organizations. Experience in: development, web design, accounting, or event planning is a plus, but not required.
