Gundersen Decorah Clinic and other businesses to be impacted by Highway 9 road construction project

When construction begins on the bridge near the Gundersen Decorah Clinic entrance on Highway 9 in early July, patients will not be able to turn left into or out of the clinic and will need to alter their route.

The construction project, set to begin on July 10th, will prevent eastbound traffic from turning left into the clinic. Instead, patients will need to drive past the Gundersen entrance to the stoplight and turn either onto Trout Run Road or Old Stage Road, then find a location to turn around to come back onto Highway 9 westbound, where they will be allowed to make a right turn into the Gundersen entrance.

(This technique will also have to be used by motorists to access Henzler's Garden Shop, Decorah Rental, Hometown Mattresses and Decorah Mobile Glass)

When leaving the clinic, traffic can only turn right. Anyone needing to go east, will have to exit right out of the clinic onto Highway 9 westbound and then drive down to the stoplights, turning right onto Montgomery Street, then finding a location to turn around.

"We want to apologize to our patients in advance and ask them for their patience during the construction project," says Gundersen Decorah Clinic manager Kathleen Jacobsen. "We also ask patients to allow extra time to travel to our clinic for appointments."

According to the Iowa DOT, construction is expected to last three months.
