The Winneshiek County Historical Society could be asked to leave its offices in the basement of the Decorah Library by the end of July. That's the word from WCHS spokesperson Ferneva Brimacomb, who says the City of Decorah probably will use the space as offices for the new City IT Director.
Brimacomb and other WCHS members met with county supervisors on Monday, but were told the old jail building is not ADA compliant, so cannot be used for offices.
Brimacomb says WCHS needs additional space for storing archives and for holding new documents and records it keeps receiving.
