Sheriff's Office warns of phone scam

The Winneshiek County Sheriff's Office says a number of county residents have contacted them to say they have received multiple scam phone calls.

The calls are from a person who claims they are a "grandchild" and in need of some money because they are in jail or some other emergency. 

Says the Sheriff's Office, "Please do not give any personal information out to these callers and just hang up."
