Several Decorah city streets will be closed when RAGBRAI comes to town

In 7 weeks, 10,000 RAGBRAI riders will be pedaling through the streets of Decorah. As a result, the Decorah Police Department is notifying the public that several city streets will be closed for much of the day on Friday, July 28th.

RAGBRAI participants will be biking 19.5 miles from Cresco on the morning of July 28th, and are expected to start arriving in Decorah around 9:00 a.m. The majority of the riders are expected to leave Decorah by 2:30 p.m. as they continue on to Ossian, Castalia, and Postville before stopping for the night in Waukon. During this 5.5 hour time period, the majority of College Drive will be closed north of the College Drive bridge. The Decorah Police Department suggests, "If you have plans to use the Post Office, go to City Hall, or use the Bank of the West drive up facility, you may want to do it after the bulk of the riders have departed the area."

This will be the first time since 1999 that RAGBRAI will pass through Decorah. Riders will get to see Luther College (especially appropriate since July 28th is RAGBRAI College Spirit Day), local breweries, and ride through the heart of Nordic Fest and downtown Decorah.
