It will take three years to improve and resurface North Winn Road. But that project is about to get started.
On Tuesday Winneshiek County officials will hold a preconstruction meeting with workers from JB Holland, the Decorah construction company which submitted the low bid on the project. Construction is expected to begin soon after the meeting.
This year's work on the North Winn Road involves preparation for paving in 2018 and in 2019. The biggest part of this year's project is the replacement of two box culverts on the road--a smaller one near Seed Savers Exchange and a larger one north of 320th Street.
After this year's work, the repaving of the southern part of North Winn Road would take place in 2018 and the repaving of the north part of the road in 2019.
That means there will be three years of construction on the road--but it also means motorists will have a new and improved road at the end of 2019.
