Traffic accident north of Calmar Friday afternoon does $23,000 in damages

A Decorah woman has been ticketed for failure to maintain control of her vehicle following a collision on 227th Avenue around 2:30 p.m. Friday.

The Winneshiek County Sheriff's Office says 35-year-old Rebecca Wagsness was southbound on 227th Avenue when she lost control of her vehicle after trying to rapidly slow down so as not to hit a tractor and planter being driven by 54-year-old Kevin Wenthold of Ossian.  Wagsness hit Wenthold's planter, breaking the hitch, which made the planter collide with the rear dual tires of the tractor. 

Wagness sustained minor injuries but ambulance transport was not needed.
