May was cooler and wetter than normal

Decorah meteorologist Richard Bernatz says May in Decorah was cooler and wetter than normal.
 
May's temperatures averaged 57.2 degrees--1.6 degrees cooler than the average over the past 122 years.  There were no records set in May, with high temperatures reaching 86 degrees twice in May.
 
Total precipitation for Decorah in May was 4.43 inches, which was 0.27 inches more than the 122-year average.
 
During the past 12 months, eleven months had higher than average precipitation.  Since last June 1st, the total precipitation that has fallen in Decorah is 30.08 inches above normal.
