Telephone survey will begin Thursday about Decorah's possible new fast fiber Internet utility

The City of Decorah wants to know how many people would sign up to be a customer of a fast fiber Internet utility in Decorah.

The city has hired a market research company to gauge public interest in the concept.  Starting this Thursday at least 400 city residents will be contacted to get citizen feedback on the possibility of fast fiber Internet service within the city limits.

City officials are publicizing the telephone survey because they want to make sure people won't think it's a telemarketing call.  The caller ID number for the survey will start with the (515) area code.

The survey should take ten to 12 minutes to complete.  City officials are asking people to please participate if they are called.
