Posted: Wed, May 17, 2017 10:44 AM

Decorah ISU Extension Agronomist Brian Lang says Growing Degree Days for corn this spring are tracking fairly close to the long-term average.

Lang says a lot of corn was planted in Northeast Iowa the beginning of May.   The Growing Degree Days total in Northeast Iowa from May 7th to May 17th is 120 or higher, and corn usually requires 90 to 120 GDD from planting to emergence.
