The NICC Board of Trustees has approved the sale of 1.3 acres of land at its Calmar campus to Denner Holdings, LLC, which plans to build a fitness center on the property.
Denner Holdings purchased the property for $28,000. It is located adjacent to the city pool and softball diamond in Calmar.
Denner plans to build a 4,800 square foot fitness center for the community and students. The first floor of the building will house fitness machines and equipment that will accommodate 50 to 80 people in the gym area. The second floor will house four apartments with a total of nine bedrooms.
The fitness center is expected to open on January 1st of 2018. NICC President Dr. Liang Chee Wee said, "The fitness center is much needed for the community, and we thank the City of Calmar, mayor and city council for their assistance and rezoning work, and also the Denner family for allowing the College to be a partner in this effort."
