Severe thunderstorm does damage in Winneshiek County

Hail and strong winds pushed through Winneshiek County Monday night, causing widespread damage.

The greatest damage was in Fort Atkinson, where hail knocked out some windows and strong winds did property damage.  Winneshiek County Emergency Management called for volunteers from the public Monday night to help with the cleanup.

The National Weather Service Office in La Crosse says there was one-inch size hail reported in Ridgeway and 1.5-inch hail in Calmar.  According to the NWS, wind gusts hit 82-miles-an-hour in Calmar.
