A Cresco man faces two felony charges after escaping in Ridgeway Friday afternoon during a prisoner transfer.
The Winneshiek County Sheriff's Office says 26-year-old Shelby Henry, who had been arrested by Winneshiek County Sheriff's Deputies earlier this spring on a Howard County warrant, was being transferred to the custody of a Howard County Sheriff's Deputy in Ridgeway when he escaped. Deputies chased Henry on foot and a Taser was deployed. During the chase a Winneshiek County Deputy sustained serious non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital by an ambulance. A Howard County Sheriff's Deputy also sustained minor injuries.
Henry was caught and taken back to the Winneshiek County Jail. He has been charged with one felony--Felony Escape from Custody and two misdemeanors--Aggravated Misdemeanor Interference with Official Acts Causing Serious Injury and Serious Misdemeanor Interference with Official Acts Causing Bodily Injury. Henry had earlier had additional charges filed against him a few weeks ago while in custody in Decorah for allegedly flooding the jail.
