Now the Iowa Tourism Office says it is recognizing Hotel Winneshiek, Seed Savers, Toppling Goliath and Vesterheim Norwegian-American Museumfor their contributions to local and statewide tourism.
The Iowa Tourism Office recognizedVesterheim for its economic impact of over $5 million to tourism in Winneshiek County. Likewise, Toppling Goliath was recognized for its role in developing "beer tourism." Commented TG co-owner Clark Lewey, "As I say to many people on their first visit to Decorah and our local taproom, come for the beer – stay for the town!"
Overall, tourism has more than an $8 billion impact in Iowa.
