Crews from Brennan Construction of Lansing and Winneshiek County Highway Department crews have begun working to remove the Dahly Bridge debris from the Upper Iowa River.
Brennan Construction was hired Monday by the Winneshiek County Board to remove the bridge debris, which supervisors worried posed a safety threat in the river.
Heavy construction equipment is on the scene at Cattle Creek Road west of Bluffton, picking up the girders and other debris that crashed into the river Friday morning when an overloaded truck crossed the bridge, causing the bridge to collapse.
