In honor of this week's National Travel and Tourism Week observance, Iowa Tourism Office staffer Amy Zeigler, a former resident of Winneshiek County, visited Decorah Wednesday.  She stopped at the Visitor Center in downtown Decorah, Hotel Winneshiek, Vesterheim, Toppling Goliath, and Seed Savers Exchange.

Zeigler is one of seven Iowa Tourism staffers who are combining to vist all 99 Iowa counties this week.  In addition to Decorah, she has visited Charles City, Mason City, Clear Lake, Northwood, St. Ansgar and Cresco.

The Iowa Tourism Office recognized Winneshiek County Convention & Visitors Bureau recently for contributing to the state's $8 billion tourism industry.  "We value and appreciate our partners for the work they do year-round to enhance the state's economy through tourism," said Shawna Lode, manager of the Iowa Tourism Office.

Zeigler had a surprise for the Winneshiek County portion of her visit--her grandparents, Henry Best and Mary Ann Martin of Fayette County, drove north to meet her on Wednesday.
