The Decorah Public Library Board of Directors has chosen an existing member of the library staff as the next Library Director.
Kristin Torresdal, who has served as the Library's Administrative Coordinator since 2005, has accepted the position. "Kristin brings a deep and thorough knowledge of library operations, programming, and community outreach to her new role as Director," stated Library Board President Andrea Beckendorf. "The Board was impressed with her vision for the library in the community and her understanding of the role the library plays for a wide range of community members."
Torresdal has nearly 20 years of experience in libraries. She has completed Level V library director certification through the State Library of Iowa, a step beyond what was required for the position.
Torresdal is expected to begin her new role July 3rd. She takes over from current LIbrary Director Lorraine Borowski, who is retiring.
