Court Street in Decorah was paved with bricks in 1906.  More than a century later, the street is still in good shape--thanks in large part to people who were honored Monday evening.

The Decorah Historic Preservation Commission presented its annual Historic Preservation Award on Monday to volunteers Norb Bohr and Pete Meyer and to the Decorah Street Department for their ongoing maintenance of the brick paving on Court Street in downtown Decorah.

The Commission tried several years ago to have the Court Street paving included on the National Register of Historic Places, but members learned that the paving was not eligible for nomination on its own.  The rules have changed now, and the street will be included as part of the application to the National Register of Historic Places.
