Argument between Winneshiek County and the City of Decorah seems on its way to being resolved

Earlier this month, Winneshiek County sent a letter to the City of Decorah, asking it to pay $45,967 for some computer equipment that was purchased for joint county and city use.

City of Decorah officials met last week with county officials and now seem to be willing to pay at least a good share of the expense after saying initially they did not intend to pay.

County officials have given city officials copies of the invoices from over $110,000 in computer purchases.  City staffers are now reviewing those invoices.

At the same time, County Attorney Andy Vander Maaten has been asked to draw up an agreement between the county and city covering payments for any computer equipment purchased by their shared IT department.  There has been a prior 28(e) agreement covering personnel costs, but not one covering equipment purchases.
