Sign up now for help with spring chores from Luther students

Posted: Wed, Apr 19, 2017 1:25 PM

Student volunteers from the Luther College Student Congregation will help Decorah residents with spring chores on Saturday, April 29th, when Luther holds its annual "Luther Serves" community service day, formerly known as Spring Fling.

Volunteers will help Decorah residents with yard work, planting, light housework, window removal and cleaning and other spring chores. The volunteer work schedule will give priority to Decorah residents who are elderly or handicapped, but any resident who is in need of the help may participate in the project.

Decorah residents may sign up by contacting Luther College Ministries at (563) 387-1040, or by e-mail at ministry@luther.edu by Tuesday, April 25th.

Please provide a brief explanation of the household or yard tasks to be completed. Student volunteers will be split into groups based on the needs of each household and will work morning shifts from 9:30 a.m.--12:00 p.m. or afternoon shifts from 1:30 p.m.--4:00 p.m.

While Campus Ministries will make every effort to accommodate all requests, they will be handled on a first come, first served basis.

There is no charge for the Luther Serves services, but donations will be accepted.  Funds collected will support Luther College's Diversity Center Book Fund and Pathway to Citizenship.
