Fridley Theatres, the owners of Viking Theater in Decorah, will be doing extensive remodeling of Viking Theater this summer. The work includes improvements to the building façade, the sidewalk, the parking lot and other facilities.
As part of the project, work will be done to improve storm water pipes around and under their parking lot. Fridley Theaters will pay for the storm sewer work and then will be reimbursed by the City of Decorah, under an agreement approved by the Decorah City Council. The storm sewer line work is expected to cost just under $82,000. The City of Decorah will make two reimbursements of $41,000 each -- one in August and another in August of 2018.
The storm sewer work is expected to help solve persistent stormwater flooding along Heivly Street.
