Decorah area group is planning a "March For Science" this Saturday

A group of Decorah area residents is working to put together "The Northeast Iowa March for Science" this Saturday--a non-partisan, all-inclusive event designed to highlight the importance of public support for science, public accessibility to science, and evidence-based decision making.

To prepare for the march, the public is invited to a community sign making gathering from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Friday at Lingonberry, 218 West Water Street.  On Saturday, participants are encouraged to bring their own parade signs, dress in green, or create a fun science or Earth Day themed costume, hat, or shirt. 

The march will start at 10:00 a.m. at Mary Christopher Park on East Water Street.  It will head west on Water Street, eventually ending at the steps of the Winneshiek County Courthouse.  There a Science Rally will be held, with former Iowa DNR Director and state legislator Paul Johnson the featured speaker.

Johnson will be joined by school children, teachers, local artists, research scientists and representatives from agriculture and industry.
