Northeast Iowa Food and Fitness Initiative Honored

The Iowa Department of Public Health has recognized the Northeast Iowa Food and Fitness Initiative for its work to help people to live a healthy lifestyle by providing education and resources, building partnerships and supporting communities.

The Northeast Iowa Food and Fitness Initiative's programs include safe routes to school, walking school buses, early childhood programming, farm to school, and healthy cooking and leadership classes for 4-H program youth.

 The Food and Fitness Initiative is a collaboration of Luther College, ISU Extension and Outreach, Northeast Iowa Community College, Upper Explorerland Regional Planning Commission and school districts across the six-county region.  It serves residents of Allamakee, Chickasaw, Clayton, Fayette, Howard and Winneshiek counties.
