Sweet news! The Sugar Bowl has new owners

The Sugar Bowl, a unique locally-owned Decorah ice cream shop, has new owners.

North Winneshiek physical education teacher Nathan Todd and his wife, photographer Brittany Todd, have reached an agreement with owner Craig Running to purchase the business.  The store serves hand-dipped ice cream, milkshakes, snacks and refreshments from its location on West Water Street.

Nathan Todd says the purchase came about because of one of the classes he is taking for a Master's Degree in business from Western Governors University.  "I was trying to fulfill my requirements for a paper for one of my classes," he tells decorahnews.com.  He decided his paper would be about the Sugar Bowl--and the more he learned, the more he realized it would be a good business to own.

Nathan says Craig Running "has been wonderful to work with" and says he and his wife are "excited for the challenge."  For now he plans no major changes at the ice cream shop, saying he just wants to keep doing what Craig Running has been doing.
