Decorah Public Library is celebrating National Library Week

This week is National Library Week, a time to highlight the changing role of libraries, librarians and library workers.

"The library embraces the entire community, offering unlimited opportunities for personal growth and lifelong learning," said Decorah Public Library Director Lorraine Borowski, "Libraries level the playing field for people of any age who are seeking the information and access to technologies that will improve their quality of life."

The Decorah Public Library is celebrating National Library Week with a wide variety of programs for people of all ages and fine amnesty all week long. Anyone with overdue library materials may take advantage of fine amnesty: simply bring overdue items to the front desk of the library, let a staff member know that they are overdue, and all fines for those items will be removed.

A highlight of the week will be a book discussion with author Greer Macallister at 5:00 p.m. Tuesday on the 2nd floor of the library, featuring her latest novel "Girl in Disguise."
