Raises approved for Decorah mayor, city council members

Starting January 1st, Decorah's mayor and city council members will be getting pay raises.

The Decorah City Council this week approved the third reading of an ordinance that will increase the mayor's salary to $350 a month and the pay for city council members to $50 for each regular, special or adjourned session of the council.

City officials estimate the total cost of the pay raises at around $2,280--depending on the number of meetings attended by city council members.
