Winneshiek County Democrats elect new precinct leaders

Winneshiek County Democrats now have five new precinct committee members.  Matt Anderson,  John Lof, and Alex Sekora, all of Luther College; Clara Muggli-Toyloy, Freeport; and Sonja Sola, Decorah have been elected to the positions.

Local Democrats have also elected Matt Tapscott as party chairperson; Nathan Thompson as Vice- Chairperson; Boyd Wasson as Treasurer; Carl Haakenstad as Recording Secretary; and Barb Dale as Correspondence Secretary.

The local political party also revised the wording in its platform to make clear that Winneshiek Democrats support making universal health care available to all.  Democrats also set goals for the coming year of recruiting candidates, assisting people affected by the new Voter ID bill,  improving organization in rural precincts, and investing funds in messaging outreach in radio and newspaper ads.
