The Winneshiek County Supervisors signed a proclamation observing April as Sexual Assault Awareness Month. The goal of Sexual Assault Awareness Month is to raise public awareness about sexual violence and educate communities on how to prevent it.

Nearly one in five women and one in 71 men are victims of sexual assault. For the past twenty-five years, Riverview Center has proudly provided healing and justice for
survivors of sexual violence, free of charge.

Riverview Center Volunteer Coordinator Jessica Rupp says, "We all have a role to play in preventing sexual violence in our community. Our actions, big and small, have a ripple effect on those we teach, guide, and influence. From modeling healthy behavior to addressing inappropriate conduct, everyone can make a difference."
