Preparations have begun for hosting RAGBRAI's trip through Winneshiek County this summer

The 2017 RAGBRAI will pass through Winneshiek County on July 28th.  That's almost four months from now--but preparations for hosting the crowd of bike riders are already underway.

A RAGBRAI hosting committee met for the first time Wednesday, with representatives from Chamber of Commerce and Tourism groups, local law enforcement agencies, local governments and volunteers from community groups attending.

Decorah Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Kristina Wiltgen says a number of subcommittees of the overall board have been set up, including a committee to work with food vendors, a committee to handle law enforcement and emergency concerns and a committee to work on publicity and contacts with news reporters.

Wiltgen says the RAGBRAI hosting group could still use more volunteers.  That goes for both the planning subcommittees and for the work needed to be done on the day of RAGBRAI's visit, July 28th.  Contact the Chamber of Commerce at info@decorahareachamber.com
