Winneshiek County changes its rules about road dust control

Posted: Tue, Mar 28, 2017 9:05 AM

The Winneshiek County Board has changed the county's Dust Control Policy.

Supervisors have dropped the requirement that homeowners who are applying dust control must carry extra insurance.  Instead the applicator will have to pay a $20 fee and will need to give the county a copy of their liability insurance policy that shows they are carrying adequate insurance, and it will need to list Winneshiek County as an additional insured.

The new requirement is to protect Winneshiek County from liability lawsuits that may be filed as a result of the applicator's negligent actions, intentional or not.  This will apply to all private individuals who wish to apply their own dust control.

All dust control applications need to be received in the Engineers Office by May 1st.

For more information, contact the County Engineer's Office at (563) 382-2951 or visit http://www.winneshiekcounty.org/departments/engineers-office/reports-forms to download the permit (or download it on the link on this story)
