Expect to see more improvements coming to Wellington Place this summer.
Construction will start in a month or two on an addition to one wing of the facility. The project will add 18 rooms to the skilled care wing of Wellington Place at a price tag of $1.5 million.
That's not the only project planned for the Freeport facility. Two other projects will add a new therapy wing and a new memory care wing.
Wellington Place staffers held an open house Friday afternoon to celebrate the changes that have been made at the facility. Wellington Place Administrator Scott Marnin says the facility can now offer a "curriculum of care" that allows people to enter in the assisted living section of Wellington Place, but not have to leave the home for some place else as their needs change.
Wellington Place has now been in operation for over 150 years, starting in 1866 as the "county home."
