This is "Severe Weather Awareness Week"

The Winneshiek County Emergency Management, Decorah Police Department and the Winneshiek County Sheriff's Office is reminding the public this week is the National Weather Service's Severe Weather Week.

Winneshiek County will participate in the statewide tornado drill on Wednesday.  At 10:00 a.m. a test tornado watch will be issued by the National Weather Service, at 10:15 a.m. a test tornado warning will be issued.  The test will end at 10:30 a.m.  If there is severe weather Wednesday, the test could be postponed until the following day.

The National Weather Service is encouraging every school, resident and business to take part in the drill by seeking safe and secure shelter as if it were a real weather emergency.
