Decorah friends Hunter McGee and Nils Holkesvik came up with an idea for a part time job by creating their own company. McGee realized he had a lawn mower, rake, snow blower, and shovel and could start spreading the word they are available for hire. That is how H & N Lawn Co. got started. They asked friends Riley Mann, Jase Tofte and Cai Brevig to be a part of their business. McGee, Holkesvik, Mann and Toffe are all freshmen at Decorah High School and Brevig is an 8th grader at Decorah Middle School.
Their website, which Holkesvik spent many hours one night creating, has a link to McGee's original site, and states "We will help you with snow, lawn and gardening, we can even help you move. Any job you have in mind, there's no job too big or too small, just give us a call. And the best part- we only charge $15 per hour- you can't beat that price."
Each boy is eager to do jobs, hoping to save money earned for a car, truck and one boy mentioned he was saving money for college. They have been friends for most their lives and think it would be fun to work with each other at various jobs. They have experience shoveling snow, mowing lawns and are willing to do most any job people may ask them to.
Customer Teresa Dehning hired the boys and had this to say, "Today my yard was raked of all the poo left from my dog under the winter snow, plus a few leaves too. They swept out my garage and I didn't ask them too, they just did it! A bag of softener salt was taken down steep stairs in my creepy basement and into the water softener for me too. Worth the money and I'm glad to help these young men out. Give them a call and relax while they do the work!"
