The Decorah Public Library hopes to install LED lighting later this year.
The library board and the Friends of Decorah Public Library volunteer group have set aside $10,300 in funds to help pay for the project, but another $5,200 is needed. That's the reason the library has begun a fundraising drive.
Plans call for LED Lighting to replace current lighting in the building. The switch would save 27 percent in energy costs annually and bulbs would have twice to three times the lifespan.
Library officials hope to begin the project in mid-May.
Anyone interested in contributing to the project can make checks payable to Decorah Public Library LED project and drop them off at the library or mail them to 202 Winnebago Street.
