The Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation has bought property along two popular trout streams in Winneshiek County with the aim of helping to preserve the streams.

The INHF highlights the projects on Coldwater Creek and North Bear Creek in its latest newsletter (http://www.inhf.org/blog/blog/two-popular-trout-streams-protected-in-northeast-iowa/ ).  The article notes, "By purchasing just over 96 acres along Coldwater Creek, INHF hopes to increase the size of the Coldwater Creek Wildlife Management Area by 30 percent, protecting valuable habitat and ensuring the stream remains accessible to the public."  It notes land purchases along South Bear Creek have the same intention.
