Decorah resident June Melby is the New York Times best-selling author of the book "My Family and Other Hazards." She has also worked as a comedian, poet, musician, and performing artist.
Starting next Monday, she'll be a teacher. ArtHaus has announced Melby will teach a class called "Creativity, Craft & Completion." The class will focus on creative writing, including character development, pacing, narrative arc, revision, and details about publication of work. The class will meet Mondays from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. until May 1st.
June received an MFA in Nonfiction Writing from University of Iowa. Her poetry and prose have been featured in many journals including The Utne Reader, McSweeney's Internet Tendency, Water~Stone Review, and National Lampoon Magazine.
