Registration is open for "Preserving, Enhancing, and Promoting Northeast Iowa's Historical Treasures," a day of historic workshops. The event will be held May 9th at Upper Iowa University.
Northeast Iowa is home to thousands of historical structures, artifacts and museums—and many thousands more people who preserve, protect and promote them. The workshops are designed to give staff and volunteers active in local historical societies, sites, and museums new tools for collections management, fundraising, harnessing tourism & economic development potential, restoration projects, finding and sustaining volunteers, and much more. Economic development and tourism officials are also encouraged to attend.
The workshops will feature presentations and panels from Iowa Museum Association, Travel Iowa, Iowa Economic Development Authority, The Vesterheim Museum, and Northeast Iowa RC&D, among others.
Registration is open online at iowaart.org/historic-workshop/. Early registration (through April 28th) is $40. A limited number of scholarships are available.
