Car hits garage. Garage collapses

This was all that remained of the garage Tuesday morning

A garage was destroyed Monday afternoon in Decorah when the driver of a car pressed the accelerator instead of the brake.

89-year-old John Glesne could not get his car to stop in time, so it crashed into a garage at 602 South Avenue around 4:00 Monday afternoon.  The car suffered $2,500 in damages, but the garage was a total loss.

Glesne was not ticketed and was not injured.
