New procedures go into effect regarding public meeting notifications for the City of Decorah

The City of Decorah now has an official administrative policy on how to notify the news media and the public about upcoming city government meetings.

City Administrator Chad Bird and Assistant City Attorney John Anderson worked on crafting the new policy.  It includes a "News Media Notification Request Form" that reporters can fill out to request copies of agendas of upcoming meetings.

The policy won the unanimous approval of the Decorah City Council on Monday night.

decorahnews.com's Paul Scott had filed a formal complaint with the Iowa Public Information Board because of a city Personnel Committee meeting in January.  That complaint has now been withdrawn because the new administrative policy has resolved the situation to the satisfaction of both parties.
