Decorah's "Boulevard Tree Voucher" will be increased

The Decorah City Council has given its approval to a suggestion to increase the dollar amount of a voucher given to community members planting a tree in the city boulevard.

Currently the voucher provides a $35 rebate, with seniors over the age of 60 getting a $60 rebate.  The new system will make it a uniform $60 rebate for everyone.

Tree Board member Mark Faldet says the current $4,000 budget for the Tree Board should be enough to handle the additional spending.

Faldet says the Tree Board also receives funding by applying for grants to cover tree planting costs.
