The community prairie butterfly garden in Decorah could use additional volunteers in 2017

Posted: Mon, Feb 20, 2017 11:02 AM

Decorah community prairie butterfly garden volunteer Jerri Osenga is grateful for the support of those who volunteered to help maintain the garden in 2016, and she is hoping even more will  volunteer in 2017.

Since maintenance of the butterfly garden is a forever process, volunteers are always needed and appreciated. If you would like to help, there are two options available: volunteer to work alongside others on Monday mornings, or "adopt a plant' and come on your own time.

On Mondays, volunteers are needed to work from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. during the growing season to weed, water, and care for the area. Volunteers can also join the "Adopt a Plant" program which allows volunteers to come on their own time during the season to care for a specific 8' x 8' plot of land. Lead volunteer Jerri Osenga tells decorahnews.com she could use at least 10 new volunteers for this program.
