Ruth asks Mr. (School) Answer Person: "I've been saving "Boxtops for Education" and "Milk Moola" tops for some time. How much do these actually help the school?"
Mr.(School) Answer Person says: "I was pleasantly surprised by the answer to this question. Decorah Community Schools Director of Business Services Cathy Dietzenbach searched her software to reveal the following contributions from the programs mentioned, plus one additional program.
Since 2014:
· Boxtops for Education, $315.20
· Milk Moola, $1,458.50
· Target Take Charge of Education, $769.28
Dietzenbach says the money is used to support extracurricular activities such as Special Olympics, music, art, etc.
There is another program that can benefit school arts programs, Artsonia (artsonia.com). This program provides a virtual gallery of children's submitted art work. Parents or grandparents can purchase artwork that is superimposed on a variety of products such as t-shirts or mugs. The school's art department receives a percentage of sales.
But the short answer to your question is that these programs have resulted in around $2,500 to the Decorah School District since 2014."
