Beef Royalty candidates announced

The 2017 Winneshiek Beef Banquet will be held this coming Saturday at Nob Hill.  In addition to handing out several awards, banquet organizers will announce this year's beef royalty.

There is one candidate for Beef Queen--Jaden Anderson, who lives outside of Decorah with her parents, John and Pam. She is a junior at Decorah High School, where is active in FFA.  Jaden has served as Secretary of the chapter and will receive her Iowa FFA Degree in April.

There are three candidates for Cowgirl: Rylin Sibley, the 10-year-old daughter of Breanna and Randy McClintock of rural Decorah and Alana and Tasha Sibley of Decorah; Emma Schmelzer, the 11-year-old daughter of Arthur and Rhonda Schmelzer of rural Decorah; and Kayleigh Smith, the 11-year-old daughter of Chad and Sarah Smith of Decorah.  Rylin is a student at Carrie Lee Elementary and is active in the Madison 4-H Club.  Emma is active in the Hesper Helpers 4-H club. Kayleigh Smith is a fifth grader at the Decorah Middle School and a member of the Hesper Helpers 4-H Club.

Tickets to the Beef Banquet are $15.00 and can be bought from any board member or by contacting Dana Stendel at 563-419-5023
