Decorah's community prairie butterfly garden is alive and well thanks to support from the Decorah Park and Recreation Department and the efforts of many dedicated volunteers.
In 2016, volunteers logged a total of 282 hours from May 9th - October 31st. Their contributions included watering, weeding, seed-collection, and mulching among other things.
Some highlights of the 2016 season were the installation of a water barrel, expansion of the "Adopt-a-Plant" program, and a feature article on the website www.pollinatinglife.com which will be used to promote city prairie parks in other communities.
