Veterans Affairs Office wants veterans to know about upcoming changes in co-pays

Posted: Fri, Feb 17, 2017 1:05 PM

Starting Monday, February 27th, there will be changes in co-payments for medication for veterans enrolled in VA Health Care priority groups 2-8.

That's the word from the Winneshiek County Veterans Affairs Office, which says the new Outpatient Medication Tiers are for a 30 day supply or less and are:
    Tier 1      (Preferred Generics) $5
    Tier 2      (Non-Preferred Generics & some OTCs) $8
    Tier 3      (Brand Name) $11
The medication co-payment cap is $700 for each calendar year.

The VA charges co-payments for medication provided on an outpatient basis for treatment of a non-service connected condition.  Veterans who no longer receive their medication through the VA should review the new Tier Program to see if you can save money.
