Emerald Ash Borer confirmed in Clayton County

Posted: Tue, Feb 14, 2017 11:38 AM

The Iowa Department of Agriculture says one of its staffers has discovered a tree infected with Emerald Ash Borer in Clayton County.

EAB is a highly destructive insect that attacks and kills ash trees.  A member of the Iowa EAB Team was visiting Marquette recently—and noticed a tree that looked like it was infected.  Further investigation led to the collection of insect specimens that were later positively identified as EAB.

Clayton County becomes the 41st Iowa county where EAB has been detected. Winneshiek and Allamakee counties are also on the list.
