Members of the North Winneshiek School Board have approved a resolution opposing proposed changes in the state's collective bargaining laws.

Meeting Monday afternoon, the North Winn Board approved the following statement regarding Senate File 213 and House File 291, two bills being considered by the Iowa Legislature that would take away many of the collective bargaining rights of public employees, including school district employees: "The North Winneshiek School Board opposes SF213 & HF291 to be approved with such haste and little input."

Meanwhile, the North Winn board also approved a teacher master contract for the 2017-2018 and 2018-2019 school years. The new base salary will be $32,400 for 2017-2018 and $32,800 for 2018-2019.
