Winneshiek County supervisors are getting close to being done with work on a 2017-2018 budget.
The tentative budget calls for no change in the total levy rate of $6.39 for every $1,000 of assessed valuation for city residents and $8.34 for every $1,000 for rural residents.
County Auditor Ben Steines says the tentative budget includes no major increases to any department, no cuts to any department, and continued funding for major infrastructure improvements like roads, the Courthouse, and other infrastructure needs.
The budget does have enough money for some smaller capital improvement projects, such as electrical upgrades at the Smith building, repaving Trout Run Road from Highway 9 to the Fish Hatchery and a few small bridge/culvert replacements that don't qualify for federal assistance.
