Decorah 5th grader wins DAR essay contest

Decorah 5th grader Alex McGohan has won an essay contest sponsored by the Hannah Lee Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

DAR's American History Essay Contest asked students to write an essay about one of America's national parks, including why and when a particular national park was established and what makes it a national treasure. 

Alex, the son of Greg and LaDonna McGohan of Decorah, will now have his essay entered at the state DAR competition.  Grace Robinson's essay was selected for the state completion at the 7th grade level.  She is the daughter of Brett and Jennaya Robinson.  Other students submitting essays were Danielle Rix and Ki Vine.
