The Decorah Community School District is the 3rd best school district in Iowa. That's the assessment of the website niche.com, which is out with its 2017 rankings of school districts, high schools, middle schools and elementary schools all across America.
In 2015 niche.com ranked the Decorah School District 3rd in the state. Lat year Decorah was ranked 4th. This year it regains its #3 ranking, with A+ ratings from niche.com for academics, teachers and health and safety and A ratings for college readiness and clubs & activities.
Decorah's only stumble was in the category of "racial diversity," where the 91 percent white make-up of the student body and other factors led to a C+ rating.
Individually, Decorah's schools were all ranked in the top 15 in Iowa. Decorah HIgh School was ranked 8th in the state; Decorah Middle School was ranked 6th in Iowa and Carrie Lee was ranked 12th in the state. No ranking was given to John Cline School because of a lack of data available, but the school was given an overall A rating.
